Build on the daily hunt

Every day we scan about two million expiring domains and keep the few with clean history and real authority. The API, the MCP server and webhooks put that list inside your own tools.

Three ways in

REST API. JSON over HTTPS with an API key. Pull the live list with filters, read the full report of a domain, order a report for any domain, manage alert rules and run registry lookups. One curl gets you started.

MCP server. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client to https://hunter.domains/mcp and ask in plain words: "find me a clean gardening domain under $100". The assistant searches the list, reads the reports and explains what it found. There is also a free server at https://hunter.domains/mcp/free that needs no account.

Webhooks. When a new domain matches one of your alert rules, we send a signed POST to your endpoint within about a minute. Send it on to Slack, a spreadsheet, an n8n flow or a script that places the backorder.

What you get

The data is the same data the site shows, not a raw feed:

  • Vetted domains only. Every domain on the list has passed an authority pre-filter, a link-network and blacklist check, and a review of its Wayback Machine history. Domains with gambling, pharma or adult spam, or signs of a takeover, never reach it.
  • A score and the reasons behind it. A 0–100 Hunter score with its breakdown, Ahrefs Domain Rating, Majestic Trust Flow and Citation Flow, referring domains, archive years and every risk flag.
  • Three lists. The live list (auctions and pending drops that have not ended), Available now (dropped and unregistered, re-checked against the registry every two hours) and the archive.
  • The revival kit. The old site's most archived URLs with Wayback links and the archived text, so you know which pages to rebuild.
  • Reports on demand. The same report for any domain you name, listed or not, in about two minutes.
  • Registry lookups. RDAP registration data with a drop-date estimate, bulk availability, DNS records and Domain Rating.

Quick start

  1. Create a free account and confirm your email address.
  2. Open API in your account and create a key. It is shown once.
  3. Make a request:
curl "https://hunter.domains/api/v1/domains?min_dr=30" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer hd_…"
{
    "data": [
        {
            "domain": "example.org",

meta.locked says how many more domains match on the Pro list. The API guide covers every endpoint.

Fair use

Build tools for yourself, your team and your clients. Do not republish the list or resell the data as a feed or a competing service, and do not share one account's key between unrelated people; the terms have the details. Metrics such as Domain Rating and Trust Flow belong to their providers and are shown for evaluation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the expired domain API free?

Yes, on the free plan. A free key returns the day's 5 open domains with their full reports, the whole archive, the registry, DNS and Domain Rating lookups, and one free domain check. The full list by name, Available now, alert rules and webhooks are part of Pro.

Do I need a separate API subscription?

No. There is no separate API plan and no per-request price. The API, the MCP server and webhooks are part of the plan you already have.

Is there an SDK?

Not yet. The API is plain JSON over HTTPS, and the OpenAPI file describes every endpoint, so you can generate a client for your language or hand the file to a coding assistant.

Can an AI assistant use it without me writing code?

Yes. Add the MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor and the assistant calls the same functions for you.

How fresh is the data?

The scan runs once a day and each domain is published the moment its review finishes. Prices, bids and end times are refreshed with every scan; the Available now list is re-checked against the registries every two hours.

Where do I report a problem?

Write to hello@hunter.domains. Include the request and the code of the error you received.
